MC16 Red/Black
The MC16 has been developed to monitor surround and immersive audio projects (Dolby Atmos, Auro 3D, etc...) in the analog domain while offering the same quality as stereo monitoring with 120V technology.
16 loudspeakers
The corresponding speakers are activated via sixteen buttons. The sixteen inputs of Input 1 and Input 2 are routed to the outputs with the same channel assignment. This ensures that the output routing created for a DAW session always matches the routing in the MC16.
The buttons allow you to insert a label with the exact name of the loudspeaker.

MC16 offers two 16-channel inputs to quickly compare a current project with a reference production.
Monitor Level
This analog potentiometer is used to set the monitoring level. We have developed a 16-level potentiometer with which we can control the volume in the analog way, because we did not want to accept a digital control that is afflicted with resolution deficits and a lack of dynamic range.
Presets
You can save speaker setups in three memory locations. This means you can quickly call up a 5.1, an 11.1 or a 9.1.6 configuration.
In solo mode, three more memory locations are available with the same preset buttons. For example, you can create all front speakers or all ceiling speakers or all rear loudspeakers as a solo group.
The 120V technology
120V technology is SPL's reference technology. It is unique in the world of audio because it works with a DC voltage of 120 volts. This corresponds to four times the operating voltage of IC-based semiconductor operational amplifiers.
The highest possible audio quality requires the highest possible audio operating voltage.
The 120V technology works with +/-60 V. To be able to handle such a high voltage, we have developed special proprietary operational amplifiers that can work with a DC voltage of +/-60 V - the SPL 120V SUPRA operational amplifiers. This high voltage would destroy conventional components and operational amplifiers.
The 120V technology achieves exceptional technical specifications and sonic advantages. Technically, in terms of dynamic range, signal-to-noise ratio and clipping resistance. In terms of sound, in terms of richness of detail and an absolutely relaxed listening experience.
Incidentally, the “120V” in the name of the technology has nothing to do with the local mains voltage from the socket. It refers to the operating voltage in the device with which the audio signals are processed.
The mains voltage from the socket is transformed to the required secondary voltage in the device's internal linear power supply unit with toroidal Transformer'>Transformer. Rectifiers convert this AC voltage into the DC voltages required in the audio device.
